Toni Kurz was a talented German mountaineer who tragically lost his life during an attempt to climb the North Face of the Eiger in the Swiss Alps in 1936. However, they were soon caught in a severe storm that left them stranded on a vertical rock face.

His final moments were captured in a poignant photograph that showed him dangling from the rope, his hand reaching out in a futile attempt to grasp the summit.
