Empire Today, LLC, commonly known as "Empire Carpet," is a Northlake, Illinois-based company that specializes in selling and installing flooring and window treatments. The company was founded in 1959 by Seymour Cohen in partnership with Jonathan Samuel, originally operating as a small, door-to-door carpet selling service in Chicago, Illinois.

Empire Today gained widespread recognition in part due to its memorable television commercials featuring the iconic "Empire Man" character, who was portrayed by Lynn Hauldren. The jingle, "800-588-2300, Empire Today!" is also widely recognized.

The company offers a range of products including carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and tile flooring, as well as window treatments. Empire Today is known for its in-home service, where a representative visits the customer's home with samples, provides a price quote, and can often arrange for quick installation, sometimes as soon as the next day.

Empire Today has expanded its services across more than 70 metropolitan areas in the United States, maintaining a strong presence in the home improvement industry. It was purchased by The Carlyle Group in 2016, a global investment firm, which has continued to support its growth and expansion.
