Ethiopia's monarchy has a long and storied history, often tracing its origins back to the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon. The legend holds that the Queen of Sheba, known as Makeda in Ethiopian tradition, visited King Solomon in Jerusalem, and from their union, a son, Menelik I, was born, who became the first emperor of Ethiopia, starting the Solomonic dynasty. However, these stories are more mythical and religious rather than factual historical accounts.
Today, Ethiopia does not have a queen or any royal family in power, as the country is governed by a President (head of state) and a Prime Minister (head of government).
