Instructions:
1. Start by taking your measurements. Measure your bust, waist, and hips to determine the size of the dress you want to make.
2. Cut out the pattern pieces for the dress. You will need a front bodice piece, a back bodice piece, a front skirt piece, and a back skirt piece. You can find a ruffle dress pattern online or create your own.
3. Sew the bodice pieces together at the side seams, right sides facing. Press the seams open.
4. Sew the skirt pieces together at the side seams, right sides facing. Press the seams open.
5. Sew the bodice to the skirt, right sides facing, matching up the side seams. Press the seam allowance up towards the bodice.
6. Create the ruffle for the dress by cutting a piece of fabric that is twice the width of the bottom of the skirt and about 3-4 inches tall. Sew a gathering stitch along the top edge of the ruffle piece and gather it to the same length as the bottom of the skirt.
7. Attach the ruffle to the bottom of the skirt, right sides facing, and stitch it in place.
8. Hem the bottom of the dress by folding the raw edge under and sewing it in place.
9. To finish the dress, add elastic to the waist to create a gathered look. Measure the elastic to your waist size, sew the ends together, and then attach it to the waist of the dress.
10. Try on your ruffle dress and make any necessary adjustments before wearing it out and showing off your handmade creation!
