- 2-3 yards of lightweight fabric (such as cotton, rayon, or linen)
- Matching thread
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Pins
- Measuring tape
- Spaghetti straps or fabric to make straps
Instructions:
1. Start by taking your measurements. You will need to measure your bust, waist, hips, and the length from your shoulder to where you want the dress to end.
2. Using your measurements, draft a basic dress pattern on paper. You will need a front and back bodice piece, a front and back skirt piece, and straps if you are not using pre-made spaghetti straps.
3. Cut out your pattern pieces from the fabric. Make sure to leave seam allowance around each piece.
4. Sew the front and back bodice pieces together at the side seams. Repeat for the skirt pieces.
5. Attach the bodice to the skirt, matching up the side seams.
6. Hem the bottom of the dress to your desired length.
7. If you are making your own spaghetti straps, cut two long strips of fabric and sew them together lengthwise. Turn them right side out and press them flat. Attach the straps to the top of the dress.
8. Try on the dress and adjust the fit as needed. Make any necessary alterations and finish the seams.
9. Press the dress to give it a clean and professional look.
10. Your spaghetti strap dress is now ready to wear! Feel free to customize it with embellishments or different fabric choices.
